Cuzco, the capital of the Incan Empire until the 16th century, lies in the heart of Peru near the Andes. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Cuzco is one of the most colorful and vivacious place I've ever been.

Peppered with wide smiles, alpacas walking around in the middle of the town center, and the brightest colored clothing I've ever seen, this city is full of people who live life to the fullest. Honking horns, music, and sounds of merriment can be heard until the wee hours of the morning as they enjoy the amazing food, vibrant life in the mountains, and each other.

I stopped in Cuzco for a few nights on the way to and from hiking the Incan Trail and Machu Pichu in 2017.
