Selby Gardens is a living museum located on the shores of Sarasota Bay. It is the only botanical garden dedicated to the study and conservation of epiphytes - or air plants - like orchids, bromeliads and gesneriads. Activities include a children’s rainforest garden, tropical glass house conservatory and 15 acres of lush grounds with two historic homes, including the Museum of Botany & the Arts. On-site dining, a plant shop and year-round special events offer numerous reasons to return frequently.
Nokomis Beach is Sarasota County's oldest public beach. The Nokomis Beach Plaza was designed and built in the 1950's by Jack West, of the renowned Sarasota School of Architecture, and renovated in 2008. Amenities include: beach, swimming, lifeguards, boardwalk, canoe/kayak launch, boat ramp and dock on bayside, historic Nokomis Beach Plaza, picnic shelters, playground, volleyball, beachside restrooms, bayside portable restrooms, parking.
Founded in 1926, Sara Bay Country Club is one of Florida's most venerable private golf clubs. The club's facilities are for the exclusive use of Sara Bay members and their guests. The club is located just north of downtown Sarasota, Florida's cultural capital, and is a short drive from the Gulf Coast Keys of Longboat, Lido, St. Armands, Bird and Siesta. Designed by legendary architecht Donald Ross, he considered Sara Bay Country Club among his personal favorites.
